Robert R. Lech has spent his nearly 30 year career helping his clients identify, protect, monetize and enforce their intellectual property (IP). Rob is a principal with his boutique firm, Lech Law, LLC, but he has experience working in large law firms and as in-house counsel with Priceline. He counsels his clients in all aspects of IP including overall IP strategy.
Rob is a licensed U.S. patent attorney, and he spends significant time drafting and prosecuting applications to register IP with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. Copyright Office, and various Secretaries of State. He also provides opinions regarding right-to-use technology, patentability, validity and non-infringement. For clients with existing IP, Rob negotiates and drafts various agreements and licenses with a focus on IP rights. To protect his clients’ IP assets, he also issues cease and desist letters, and conducts litigation to enforce his client’s IP.
Rob holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Michigan. Rob was president of his law school class, and he received his Juris Doctor degree, Magna Cum Laude, from Michigan State University College of Law.
In his free time, Rob performs in several Central Ohio bands including: The Emerald City Swing Orchestra, Funky Waters, and Pirogue. He enjoys playing various instruments and various musical genres. He is also passionate about his work as a volunteer and Vice Chairman of the National Board of Governors for A Special Wish Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to granting the wishes of children under the age of 21 who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening disorder.
