MORPC came to visit the Delaware Entrepreneurial Center at OWU to learn more about the innovative way we are bridging the OWU, city, and county communities through entrepreneurship.

You might say this start-up company is helping to pave the way for green entrepreneurship. And for its efforts, necoPlastics – headquartered at the Delaware Entrepreneurial Center at Ohio Wesleyan University – has been selected as a 2019 Cleantech Open company. Since 2005, the nonprofit Cleantech Open (CTO) program has been finding, funding, and fostering the most innovative clean technology companies in the world.

Main Street Delaware honors several businesses, organizations, and individuals – including The Delaware Entrepreneurial Center – with awards for their impact on the historic downtown and local community.

OWU student Jack Foley founded ReYuze Cases, which sells smartphone cases made of recycled plastics processed in Haiti. Foley is operating his business from an office in the new Delaware Entrepreneurial Center at Ohio Wesleyan University.

The Delaware Entrepreneurial Center at Ohio Wesleyan University will open officially Oct. 4 with an afternoon ribbon-cutting, remarks and public tours.

The city of Delaware and a private partner have hatched a plan to transform a vacant downtown building back into a bustling workplace.

Delaware County is the fastest-growing, most-educated county in Ohio, yet nearly 80 percent of its population commutes to surrounding areas each day for work. It’s a trend local leaders hope to reverse with a new partnership among the county, the city of Delaware and Ohio Wesleyan University, meant to encourage innovation in the area.

A partnership thought to be the first of its kind will bring an entrepreneurial center to Ohio Wesleyan University’s campus in Delaware.

Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware County, and the City of Delaware are joining together to create The Delaware Entrepreneurial Center, a business incubator and education center to be located on the OWU campus.

After several years of planning, a project focused on city and countywide economic development and fueling the entrepreneurial spirit among not only students at Ohio Wesleyan University, but also residents of the City of Delaware and Delaware County, is nearing fruition.
